Welcome to our site and thanks for visiting!

Founded in London, England, Odd Stumble is a politically engaged theatre collective whose core artistic work is currently based out of Tiohtiá:ke/Montréal, on the unceded lands of the Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk) of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Huron/Wendat, Abenaki, and Anishinaabeg (Algonquin).

Odd Stumble produces new works and also initiates projects that respond to current events with improvisation and devised collaboration as creation methods. The company is a shifting collective, working with new and returning artists on projects which are lead by at least one of the co-founders.

With a penchant for the odd, experimental and physical, the company works laterally with artists of various disciplines to explore diverse forms of narrative. Politically relevant stories, theatre design elements (set, lights, and sound), and unique performance spaces, are central to the company’s creative approach.

“To find our way in the wilderness of artistic creativity, we must stumble around, ‘experimenting’ with different solutions before we are satisfied with the answers we find.” – An Acrobat of the Heart

Odd Stumble is committed to feminist practices and works closely with artists of diverse backgrounds and artistic disciplines to collaboratively create theatrical experiences that nourish artistic development and engage audiences on a visceral level.

The Founders

Once upon a time a Canuck, a Brit, a Finn, and a Spaniard, stumbled upon each other; Cristina Cugliandro, Liv Wright, Maria Kivinen, and José Gardia.

“It is by going down into the abyss that we recover the treasures of life. Where you stumble, there lies your treasure.” – Joseph Campbell
